RUNNING  ROUTE

Check-In

Check in for the race will be:

• Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm @ UMHB Trail at Tyson Lane (race site)
• Saturday, October 29 from 7:00 am - 8:30 am @ UMHB Trail at Tyson Lane (race site)

Race Day

The Backyard CRUltra will begin Saturday, October 29th @ 9:00 am.  

Course Information

The Backyard CRUltra loop will be run on UMHB's trail course (75% single track and 25% dirt road).  

Opening Ceremony

Opening ceremony for the event will begin at 8:50 am with a prayer and the playing of the National Anthem.  

Race Rules

• Warning announcements will be given at the 3 minute, 2 minute, and 1 minute point prior to the start of each loop.
• Eligible runners should be in the starting corral by the 1-minute mark.
• Runners must stay in the transition area once checked in.
• No assistance is allowed in the transition (Start/Finish corral) area.
• Each loop starts precisely at the top of the hour.
• All eligible participants must start at the bell (no late starts).
• From the start of a loop to the finish of that loop, NO OUTSIDE
  ASSISTANCE is allowed.
• For teams, each member must alternate the running of loops (one runner runs the even loops, the partner runs the odd loops)

Start Procedures

The first loop of the Backyard CRUltra will begin at 9:00 am.  

Loops

• Competitor may not leave the course until each loop is completed
• No non-competitors on the course (including eliminated runners)
• No personal aid during a loop
• Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted...including the final lap
• No artificial aids (including trekking poles)
• Slower runners must allow passes.

Timing

•  An official race time clock will be visible at the start and finish. This will be the official time used for the race to determine the hour completion.
• Personal timing devices are optional, but will not be used to determine a one hour finish 

Finish Procedures

At the completion of a runners participation, the runner will "check-out".  Runners will be given their DNF participation medal and must collect all their belongings by the end of the day. 

Winner/Results

• The winner is the last person to complete a loop
• All others are technically DNF
• Results of each runner is terms of loops completed will be given
• If no runner can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner

Awards

The awards for the Backyard CRUltra are unique, hand made and created by the UMHB Art department.  The race awards will be presented to the following: 

• Individual winner
• Team winner 

All other participants will receive a DNF (Did Not Finish)
